Today I want to do a short blog post about CBD products. What is CBD?CBD is short for Cannabidiol, one of the many parts found in Marijuana and Hemp. Most of the people are familiar with THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol), which is also a part of Marijuana, cannabis plant and is its main psychoactive ingredient, but unlike THC, CBD is NOT psychoactive. To make it easier to understand it will not make you high. It is also very different from medical marijuana. So what is the difference between CBD and THC, they have the same ingredients as I would call them: 21 carbon atoms, 30 hydrogen atoms and two oxygen atoms, while all of these are same , they have a different chemical arrangement and body receives them differently. These ingredients connect to neurotransmitters in our brain and affect things like mood, pain, sleep, memory, etc…So what is CBD good for and what we should know about its health benefits?
1. It reduces anxiety. Studies show that CBD may help relieve anxiety by, reducing stress, decreasing psychological effects of anxiety( increased heart rate, sweat outbreak, etc. ), improves symptoms of PTSD, helps sleep in cases of insomnia.2. Relieves pain. CBD can help reduce pain by impacting endocannabinoid receptor activity, reducing inflammation and interacting with neurotransmitters. Other pre-clinical studies managed by National Institutes of Health are also observing the effect of CBD in relieving symptoms caused by: arthritis, chronic pain, MS pain, muscle pain, spinal cord injuries and many more.3. Can alleviate cancer related symptoms. It can reduce symptoms related to cancer like, nausea, vomiting and pain. Some studies have investigated the role of CBD in preventing cancer cell growth, research is not full yet. One study showed that CBD inhibited the spread of aggressive breast cancer cells in mice. One test- tube study found that concentrated CBD induced cell death in human breast cancer cells. Also CBD has the effect of reducing the ability of some types of tumor cells to reproduce. Even though these studies are very promising, they are still test studies and they can only suggest that it might work on people. 4. Helps reduce ACNE.CBD oil may help treat acne due to its anti-inflammatory properties. Oil prevents activity in sebaceous glands, and these glands are responsible for producing sebum(natural oily substance that hydrates skin), too much sebum leads to acne.5. Neuroprotective.
Research is observing a receptor located in the brain to learn about the ways CBD can help people with neurodegenerative disorders, which are diseases that cause the brain and nerves to deteriorate over time. They are studying the use of CBD oil for treating: Alzheimer’s disease, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, stroke….
6. Can benefit heart health. Studies showed that CBD can help lower blood pressure. High blood pressure is linked to higher risks of a number of health conditions, including stroke , heart attack and metabolic syndrome. Some studies showed that CBD may help reduce the inflammation and cell death associated with heart disease due to its powerful antioxidant and stress-reducing properties. One other study showed that CBD reduced oxidative stress and prevented heart damage in diabetic mice with heart disease.
CBD and skincare. I already wrote that it can reduce ACNE , but it has other benefits for the skin.
Antioxidant properties of CBD can contribute toward the aging process. Therefore CBD can prevent the appearance of aging in the skin, like wrinkles. As the plan also contains antibacterial and antifungal properties it can be useful for treating skin infections. CBD oil can also help soothe skin, reduce the irritation, it can be good for people with sensitive skin. In some cases it helps healing of wounds and cuts.
CBD rarely has any noticeable side effects, even when taken in large doses. Side effects can be: dry mouth, fatigue, drowsiness. It also should be taken into consideration that CBD may interact with some medications, so it is important to check it before starting to use it.
How to use it? There are many CBD products nowadays, they help you include CBD in your daily routine. You can find CBD oil, CBD gummies, CBD coffee, CBD tea, CBD hair care, CBD skin care…
I prefer to buy CBD oil and put couple of drops in water and drink it daily.Some people just put couple of drops under their tongue and wait for a minute.
There is still much to be learned about CBD , but recent studies show that CBD can provide a safe, powerful and natural treatment for many health issues. Personally for me it is a good way to reduce anxiety, get a good sleep and stay more focused and calm. Also the creams helped a lot my pigmentation on the face, which appears since I spend a lot of time on the sun, but of course that is my personal experience.
